ā Alec to Scott McCall in The Wolves of War
|
Alec is a minor character who was introduced at the end of the sixth season of Teen Wolf. An orphaned Werewolf, he was found in Los Angeles by Scott McCall and Chris Argent in a flashforward to two years following the battle between the McCall Pack and their allies against Tamora Monroe's Hunter army. Alec was being hunted by Monroe's Hunters as a result of being a lone wolf and was shot in the leg with an arrow right before Scott and Argent found him and helped him heal. After sharing his own story of becoming a Werewolf with Alec, Scott offered him a place in the McCall Pack, though he warned him that if he did join them, he would have to fight, as they were trying to band together the supernatural community to create a united front against the Hunters. He was last seen chatting with Liam Dunbar and integrating into the main core of the pack, which included Scott, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, Derek Hale, Malia Tate, and Liam Dunbar.

Personality[]
Little was seen of this character in the series, but in his brief amount of time on-screen, Alec appeared to be a sensitive young man who was haunted by the people he had lost in his life. He was well-accustomed to being on the run and had a very well-developed sense of self-preservation, judging by his ability to escape multiple armed Hunters while only sustaining a leg injury.
Physical Appearance[]
Alec was a young man with light skin, curly brown hair, and dark brown eyes. He was seen wearing clothing typical of a young man his age, including baggy jeans, a T-shirt, and a hoodie with boots.
Powers and Abilities[]
Alec has the typical powers of a Beta-level Werewolf, including superhuman strength, speed, agility/reflexes, durability, and senses, along with accelerated healing, pain absorption, and the power to shapeshift his features into that of a wolf, including glowing gold irises, fangs, and claws.
Weaknesses[]
Alec has the typical weaknesses of a Beta Werewolf, including wolfsbane, mountain ash, mistletoe, letharia vulpina, and electricity. He is also vulnerable to involuntary transformations and/or losing control during full moons, supermoons, and when experiencing intense emotions. He is vulnerable to temporarily losing his powers during a lunar eclipse when the Earth is in the moon's umbral shadow.
Etymology[]
- Alec: Alec is a short form of the masculine given name Alexander, which is the Latinized version of the Greek name Alexandros; this name breaks down into the roots alexo, meaning "to defend or help," and aner, meaning "man," combining to mean "defending men," an apt name for a Beta who has just joined the McCall Pack, a group dedicated to protecting humanity. The most famous bearer of this name is Alexander the Great, the king of what is now Macedonia, who built an enormous empire in southeastern Europe, north Africa, the Middle East, and southeastern Asia.[Citation needed]
- Variations of the name in other languages include: Aleksandƫr, Skƫnder (Albanian, Bosnian); Iskander (Arabic, Indonesian, Malay, Turkish); Aleksandr (Armenian, Latvian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian); Aleksanteri, Ale, Samppa, Santeri, Santtu (Finnish); Alexandre, Alex, Sacha, Sasha (French); Alexandros, Alekos, Alex (Greek); Alastar (Irish); Alessandro, Ale, Alex, Sandro (Italian); Sikandar (Pashto); Alasdair, Alastair, Alistair, Ally, Sawney (Scottish); Alejandro, Ale (Spanish); Sender (Yiddish).[1]
Trivia[]
- According to showrunner Jeff Davis, Alec, while being a minor character, is very important to the story due to him representing the future of the McCall Pack as Scott McCall and his friends continue offering membership to orphaned supernaturals to protect them from Monroe's Army.[Citation needed]
- Due to Alec identifying with Scott and his story, it is assumed that he is a bitten Werewolf just like Scott.
