Trivia[]
- Dylan is of Irish heritage on his father's side, and of Italian, English, and Spanish heritage on his mother's side.
- Dylan O'Brien originally wanted to audition for the role of Scott McCall, but after reading the script, Dylan auditioned for the role of Stiles Stilinski instead.
- He has also said that, upon auditioning for his role on Teen Wolf, his resume was simply a list of links to videos on his YouTube channel, as he had no other previous acting experience.
- Interestingly enough, Dylan is currently dating actress Britt Robertson, his costar on the 2012 romantic comedy The First Time, who is best friends with his Teen Wolf co-star Shelley Hennig, who plays Malia Tate; Britt and Shelley starred in the 2011 CW Network supernatural series The Secret Circle, where they played half-sisters and coven members Cassie Blake and Diana Meade.
- Dylan was the drummer for the independent rock band Slow Kids at Play.
- In spring of 2016, Dylan was involved in a serious accident while performing a stunt on the set of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His injuries, while considered to not be life-threatening, were still so severe that filming of the movie was suspended indefinitely until he fully healed.
- Dylan has said that he is such a fan of the New York Mets that he often doodles the word "Mets" on everything around him. As a result, sharp-eyed viewers can often catch these doodles on various props in Teen Wolf episodes, such as on a page of the Bestiary that was seen in Season 5's Condition Terminal.
