ā | McCall: "Just so I have this absolutely clear... Barrow was hiding in the chemistry closet at the school. Someone left him a coded message on the blackboard telling him to kill Kira. Then, Barrow took Kira to a power substation and tied her up with the intent of electrocuting her, which blacked out the whole town." Stiles: "Sounds about right." McCall: "How did you know he'd take her to a power station?" Stiles: "Well, 'cause he was an electrical engineer. So, where else would he take her?" |

ā Rafael McCall and Stiles Stilinski discussing the events at the Electric Substation in Illuminated
|
The Electric Substation is one of the substations in Beacon Hills, California in which the city's electrical system is maintained. It was previously the workplace of William Barrow, who was an electrical engineer there prior to his arrest as a result of his bombing of a school bus. The substation exists on one of the city's telluric currents and thus was an important location in Jennifer Blake's five-fold knot sacrifice ritual.
Notable Events[]
- Allison Argent and Isaac Lahey tracked Allison's father, Chris Argent, to the substation using his map of the town with the telluric currents and potential sites where the bodies were being left, believing that he was the Darach and that they would find their missing history teacher, Mr. Westover, there. While they were correct about the latter aspect, they were wrong about the former aspect, and Argent was soon revealed to have been tracking the Darach as well, being knowledgeable about Druids and their rituals and having located all the possible sites where sacrifices may be done or where the bodies may be left. ("The Girl Who Knew Too Much")
- Unfortunately, they were too late to save Mr. Westover, who was killed via the three-fold death (head trauma, strangulation, and a slit throat) and his sacrifice led the Beacon Hills packs to realize that the current trio of sacrifices was "philosophers," meaning teachers.
- After William Barrow escaped from Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital during surgery, and Kira Yukimura went missing after a family dinner including her new crush, Scott McCall, Scott, Stiles Stilinski, and Lydia Martin began brainstorming where he could have taken her. Lydia, who had been hearing a buzzing noise all day as a result of her Banshee power of clairaudience, screamed to clear out the other ambient noises and realized that the buzzing noise was actually electricity, leading Stiles to remember that Barrow was an electrical engineer who worked at this specific electrical substation. The three then rushed to the substation to rescue Kira before Barrow could kill her. ("Galvanize")
- At the substation, Barrow took a picture of Kira with her own phone, having known through the Nogitsune's fly possession that it would reveal Kira's Kitsune aura, though she had yet to learn her supernatural identity. After ranting about "children with glowing eyes" and lamenting the fact that no one listened to him when he urged others to take heed of the supernatural aspects of Beacon Hills, Barrow took a live wire and was about to touch it to Kira's face when Scott arrived and tried to save her, getting electrocuted by Barrow in the process. Incapacitated, Scott was unable to prevent Barrow from attempting to electrocute Kira, though this ended up backfiring on him when Kira's Thunder Kitsune powers activated, causing her to create an enormous amount of electrical foxfire that ultimately electrocuted him to death.
- It was later learned that this entire scenario was orchestrated by the Nogitsune to activate Kira's powers so that Stiles, secretly and unknowingly possessed by the Nogitsune and wielding his trusty aluminum baseball bat, would be electrocuted, allowing her foxfire to "jumpstart" the Nogitsune's power within him. ("Silverfinger")
