Season 6 of MTV's hit show, Teen Wolf, is the series' final season. Like the previous season, Season 5, this season consisted of twenty episodes; and, similar to Season 3, the series was separated into two ten-episode arcs with a loosely-connected plot.
The premiere of the sixth season, Memory Lost, aired on November 15, 2016. The show aired its first five episodes of season 6, but took a short two-week hiatus for the Christmas holidays. The remaining episodes then continued to air on MTV on January 3, 2017. The second half of the season premiered on July 30, 2017, with the final episode airing on September 24, 2017.
After the release of the first official trailer during Comic Con on July 21, 2016, showrunner and executive producer Jeff Davis announced to fans that this would be the last season of the show.
On October 26, 2016, it was announced that Tyler Posey would directing the thirteenth episode of the sixth season. It was announced soon after that Linden Ashby would be directing the fourteenth episode of the season.
The second half of Season 6 moved from Tuesdays at 9:00pm to Sundays at 8:00 pm.

Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Malia, and the rest of the pack are returning to Beacon Hills High School for the second semester of senior year. Everyone will be feeling a bit emotional and anxious as they inch closer to graduation and the thought of imminently parting ways almost becomes a reality. But, their last semester in high school will not go without trouble.

- Melissa Ponzio (Melissa McCall), Linden Ashby (Noah Stilinski), and JR Bourne (Chris Argent) were all promoted to the main cast this season.
- Holland Roden stated that it is up to the audience interpretation if Stiles and Lydia are, in fact, still together.
- Scott and Malia became a couple.[3]
- Jeff Davis revealed there is a real build towards their relationship[4]
- In an interview Jeff revealed that the writers and himself had been thinking about putting the two together for a while. "There were scenes in the previous seasons where we began to test it out and asked ourselves, do we like this?" In the end, Davis and the writers saw undeniable chemistry working between the two, and the relationship developed very organically.

- Jeff Davis stated her character is a villain, but that as the season progresses, viewers would be able to understand her motives.
- There is flashbacks which ties her to the big events in Beacon Hills during a previous season that the audience got to see.
- This was the first season to not feature Dylan O'Brien (Stiles Stilinski) in every episode. This was at first due to scheduling conflicts, as Dylan was filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure during the filming of Season 6A. During filming, Dylan was performing a stunt on a motorcycle when he was thrown off, breaking multiple facial bones and causing numerous cuts and burns. This affected his presence in the second half of the season as well, as he needed several surgeries and a great deal of time to heal from his injuries before he was fit to return to his career.
- The tagline of season 6 part 2, (Final Fight. Be Afraid) could possibly be a callback to the first season's tagline. (Love. Be Afraid)
