ā€œ "You know, Einstein was right. Imagination is more important that knowledge. It was like something out of Greek mythology, ike the Furies coming down to punish Orestes. You don't know what I'm talking about, do you?"
"Was- was he the one who stabbed out his eyes?"
"God, that's Oedipus, you dumbass! The Furies are the deities of vengeance. Their tears ran of blood, and they had snakes for hair. If there was a crime who went unpunished, the Furies would do the punishing. Jackson is my Fury."
ā€
ā€” Matt Daehler and Scott McCall about Matt being the Kanima's Master

Fury is the tenth episode of Season 2 and the twenty-second episode of Teen Wolf.

Synopsis[]

While following Derek, Allison is lead back to the Sheriff's station, where Stiles, Melissa, Scott, and the Sheriff are also being held hostage.

Recap[]

Matt takes Scott, Stiles, Melissa and Sheriff Stilinski hostage. Gerard persuades Allison to exact revenge on Derek for bringing her mother to suicide. Matt reveals to Scott his reason for the murders: in 2006, all the victims were at a party at Isaac's house, where Matt had come to meet Isaac. They had thrown Matt in the pool and left him to drown despite him yelling that he can't swim. Melissa finally sees Scott as a werewolf. Gerard drowns Matt in the lake and becomes the Kanima's new master.

Continuity[]

  • This episode marks the beginning of Allison's "dark arc" following the death of her mother Victoria in Party Guessed.
    • She is also made matriarch of the Argent Hunter family. The Argents were first revealed to have a matriarchal leadership in Ice Pick.
  • Melissa finally learns that her son Scott is a Werewolf. He was first turned by Peter Hale in Wolf Moon.
  • Peter makes his first appearance since his resurrection in Party Guessed in this episode.
  • It is revealed that Kanimas are nearly invulnerable, as Jackson was shot in the forehead with a crossbow bolt, and he merely flinched and pulled it out before returning to his attack.
  • Matt Daehler is killed by Gerard Argent in order to take control of Jackson. Matt first became the Kanima master in Shape Shifted.
    • It was also revealed that he was beginning to become a Kanima himself because he broke the creature's metaphysical rules by killing non-murderers and by committing murders himself without the Kanima. Matt made his own first kill in Restraint when he killed Jessica.
  • It was revealed that Matt was afraid of water because he almost drowned to death as a child at the Lahey family's swimming pool during a pool party for the 2006 swim team, which is why he sent the Kanima after everyone who was at the party who didn't help him and killed them. The Kanima master was first suggested to be afraid of water in Raving.
  • Stiles is paralyzed by Kanima venom for the second time in this episode, which becomes a running joke throughout the series. The first time was in Abomination.
  • There are references to most of the murders that Matt committed using his control over Jackson:
  • When Matt was talking about the Kanima and comparing it to the Furies coming to punish Orestes, Scott asked, "Was that the guy who stabbed out his own eyes?", only for Matt to angrily correct him and say that was Oedipus. Interestingly enough, Scott, like Oedipus, would stab out his own eyes in Season 6's The Wolves of War in order to fight and defeat the Anuk-ite.
    • A flashback is shown of the Argent hunter, Bennett, being killed in Ice Pick.
  • Alan Deaton explains to Derek Hale that he is still an Alpha following the ritual that resurrected Peter in Party Guessed, but that he will be weak for a few hours as a result. He also admits that he knew Talia Hale and made a promise to her to look after her children. This is the first true hint that he was the Emissary to the Hale Pack.
  • It is revealed that Peter is weaker now that he's been resurrected, even weaker than the average Beta. This is a condition that will continue throughout the rest of Season 2 and most of Season 3.
  • Mr. Lahey appears in this episode via flashback. He was last seen in Shape Shifted.
  • It is revealed that Scott has been working with Gerard Argent, which has presumably been happening since Gerard stabbed him and threatened his mother in Abomination.
    • Gerard drops his silver pill case, which Scott picks up and returns to him. However, it will be revealed in Master Plan that Scott swapped out the case with pills filled with Mountain Ash, proving that he was double-crossing Gerard the entire time he was working with him.
  • This episode began with flashbacks to Jackson's first full moon, which occurred in Shape Shifted.
  • This episode marks the first appearance of Allison's Chinese ring daggers, which become her weapon of choice after her longbow and crossbow throughout the rest of her time on the series.

Trivia[]

  • The title refers to the Furies of Greek mythology, which Matt Daehler referenced in a conversation with Scott McCall to describe why he used Jackson Whittemore as his weapon of vengeance against the people who almost let him drown as a child.
