The Lahey Family is one of the minor families in Teen Wolf whose backstory has slowly been expanded on throughout the series. The known members of the Lahey family are Isaac Lahey, his parents Mrs. and Mr. Lahey, and his older brother Camden Lahey.
The family seems to have been very involved in the Beacon Hills community prior to the untimely deaths of Camden and Mrs. Lahey. In addition to owning and operating the town's cemetery, Mr. Lahey was the swim team coach at Beacon Hills High School in 2006 and possibly years prior as well. ("Fury")
Family Members[]
Mr. Lahey[]
Human; Deceased
Mr. Lahey was the husband to Mrs. Lahey and father to Camden and Isaac. At some point, his wife, Mrs. Lahey died from unknown causes, followed shortly by Camden, who enlisted in the Army after graduation and was ultimately killed in action. ("Party Guessed"). Following their deaths, Mr. Lahey went from being a loving family man to an incredibly violent single father who put a lot of pressure on Isaac, his only surviving family member, to succeed, to the point of causing such physical and psychological abuse to his youngest son that he still bears severe trauma to this day.
Mrs. Lahey[]
Human; Deceased
Very little is known about Mrs. Lahey. Some time before Season 2, she passed away; this was the initial trigger for her husband's subsequent aggression and abuse. Shortly after her death, Camden, her eldest, died in combat, leaving Mr. Lahey mourning and violent and Isaac to cope with the abuse.
Camden Lahey[]
Human; Deceased
Camden was the eldest of Mr. and Mrs. Lahey's two children and was Isaac's older brother. He was notable for being a member of the 2006 Beacon Hills High School swim team. Matt revealed to Scott the story of his near-death experience caused by Camden and his swim teammates, in which Matt describes him as "Isaac's jarhead brother." According to Matt, during a late-night hangout between Matt and Isaac when the two were around ten years old, Camden, a high school senior, threw him in the pool despite Matt's continuous and desperate pleas that he didn't know how to swim. ("Fury")
Drunk, Camden along with the rest of the swim team ignored his struggles and continued to party and hook up with each other while Matt nearly drowned to death. Had it not been for Mr. Lahey's last-minute intervention, Matt would have died, but to add insult to injury, Mr. Lahey blamed Matt himself for the event due to his inability to swim and forbade him from telling anyone what happened, causing Matt, too, to sustain severe trauma that ultimately led him to become a killer and Kanima Master half a decade or so later. ("Fury"), ("Party Guessed")
After graduation, he enlisted in the army and was eventually killed in combat. ("Abomination")
Isaac Lahey[]
Werewolf; Alive
Isaac was a supporting character in the second and third seasons of MTV's Teen Wolf. He was introduced as a young teenage boy suffering under the pressure of an abusive father who was offered the ability to regain his power, both metaphorically and literally, by Derek Hale, who gave him the bite and turned him into a Werewolf and the first true member of his rebuilt pack.
Isaac relished in the newfound strength, speed, agility, and especially the regenerative healing abilities he was afforded as a Werewolf that allowed him to better survive his father's abuse, but he was soon thrown into a mystery when a new supernatural creature appeared in Beacon Hills and killed his father, Mr. Lahey, causing him to be accused of his murder until he was ultimately dropped as a suspect later on in Season 2.
He was loyal to Derek at first, helping him investigate the mystery behind the Kanima and his master, as well as the Dark Druid known as a Darach and the Alpha Pack that arrived in town shortly afterwards. However, he soon became disillusioned by his Alpha's leadership, and began transitioning his allegiance to the newly ascended True Alpha Scott McCall just before Derek himself sacrificed his Alpha powers to save his sister Cora Hale. He was a dedicated member of the McCall Pack until the death of his girlfriend and packmate Allison Argent, after which he left the pack and moved to France. ("The Divine Move")
Etymology[]
- Lahey: An Irish locational surname with several variations (e.g. Lahy, Leahy, Leehy, Claffey, Laffey, and Lee), which are all derived from the O'Laochdha Sept, which was located in Kerry, Cork, and Tipperary counties in the Province of Munster. The name is taken from a Gaelic word meaning "heroic."[1]The Anglicized version of the name is "son of Laochdha," the latter of which is derived from the Old Irish lƔechda or lƔech, ("warrior-like or pertaining to a warrior"), which has been used as a sobriquet since the early 15th century.
