The Lahey House is located in Beacon Hills and is the former residence of the Lahey Family. It is most notable for being the location where the majority, if not all, of the abuse Isaac Lahey suffered at the hands of his father, Mr. Lahey, occurred, particularly in the basement, where Isaac was frequently locked in a deep freezer that was chained shut when Mr. Lahey wanted to "punish" him for his perceived misdeeds. (("Shape Shifted")

Not much about the house is known, aside from the fact that it was somewhat small, but in a reasonably nice area of town, judging by the fact that Jackson Whittemore's family, who were known to be very wealthy, lived across the street. ("Shape Shifted") The house had a cozy, lived-in combined kitchen and dining room, a large basement, and an outdoor swimming pool. ("Fury") It presumably had at least two bedrooms in order to accommodate Mr. and Mrs. Lahey, Isaac, and Isaac's older brother Camden.

Notable Events[]

  • In 2006, Mr. Lahey held a party at the house to celebrate the Beacon Hills High School Cyclones swim team (which Mr. Lahey coached) winning the championships, where the members in the team drank, with their coach's permission, and swam in the pool. The sounds of the raucous party attracted then-eleven-year-old Matt Daehler, who had come over to hang out with Isaac. With the swim team extremely intoxicated, they started throwing each other into the swimming pool, which ultimately led Camden Lahey, also a member of the swim team, to throw Matt in despite the younger boy's frantic pleas that he couldn't swim. Matt nearly drowned as the others continued to party, oblivious to his suffering, though Mr. Lahey did save him at the last minute, albeit with a terrifying shout that he never tell anyone what happened and a snide admonishment that he wasn't able to swim. ("Fury")
    • This event would eventually lead Matt to bond with Jackson Whittemore as the Kanima and use him to enact his revenge by killing Mr. Lahey and the rest of the swim team's members in 2011, along with Matt (and, temporarily, the Kanima's) fear of water.
  • Mr. Lahey and Isaac had a tense dinner one night, where the former questioned the latter on his grades in school. Upset with the fact that Isaac had a D in Chemistry, it initially seemed that Isaac was going to get off easy with a punishment of cleaning the kitchen, but the conversation quickly escalated to violence as Mr. Lahey began throwing plates and glasses around the room. A drinking glass, which was lobbed at Isaac's head, shattered against the wall behind him, and a shard of glass embedded itself in the skin right under his eye. It was then that Isaac's recent transformation into a Werewolf by Derek Hale was revealed, as Isaac removed the shard of glass, allowing the bleeding wound to heal before their eyes, causing Isaac to panic and run outside. He grabbed his bike and immediately began to pedal away, forcing Lahey to get in his car to chase him down. Downtown, a terrifying reptilian shapeshifter appeared and began to maul Mr. Lahey to death, but not before completely ripping the door off of the car. ("Shape Shifted")
  • After Isaac was mistakenly arrested as a suspect in his father's murder, Derek picked up Scott McCall from school and brought him to the Lahey House so they could get rid of any evidence that would implicate Isaac in his father's murder, as the obvious signs of abuse would be serious motive for Isaac to have done so. Derek taught Scott to use his superhuman senses to lead them down into the basement, where they found the deep freezer that Isaac was locked in as punishment, which had human fingernail scratches all on the inside of the appliance. ("Shape Shifted")
  • Having wasted too much time investigating the Lahey House, Scott was left with no other option but to lock himself up there to ride out that night's full moon, with Allison Argent arriving to help chain up the deep freezer, into which they were locking Scott. However, right after Allison was getting ready to head upstairs, she was approached by the same reptilian shapeshifter, causing her to scream and scare Scott so much that he used all of his strength to break out of the freezer to help save her. Strangely enough, the creature was just as scared of them and quickly scampered away, with neither Scott nor Allison having any idea what they were dealing with in regards to this new supernatural being.
