ā€œ "No one can help you. If they want to leave, they're going to leave. They'll go, and they'll go, and there won't be anything you can do about it." ā€
ā€” Lenore to Lydia Martin, Scott McCall, and Malia Tate about the people taken by the Ghost Riders in Ghosted

Lenore is a Banshee who was the sole survivor of the Wild Hunt that took place in Canaan, California in 1987. However, it was not until 2013 that she learned that this was actually due to her nature as Banshee, as Ghost Riders seem to revere them as harbingers of death and thus will not capture them and claim them as their own as they would any other creature.

Due to the Wild Hunt capturing every single other person in her hometown, Lenore unknowingly conjured her son (who had drowned several years earlier) as a Phantom with the power of the grief and pain due to loss she felt.

Early life[]

She had a son named Caleb who was born in 1976 and drowned at a young age. On April 8, 1987, the Ghost Riders came through and took everyone during a town picnic, leaving her behind. The overwhelming amount of grief and trauma caused her to lose control of her latent Banshee powers, and her resulting Banshee scream imbued the entirety of Canaan with an kind of aura that granted her unprecedented control over the town, its objects and the people inside.

Lenore remained in Canaan, in a state of delusion, for over thirty years and was surprised and excited when Scott, Malia and Lydia came to town to investigate a lead given to them by their best friend Stiles Stilinski, who had also been captured by the Ghost Riders, like the rest of the townspeople. She was later informed by Lydia that she was a Banshee, who made her aware of the passage of time and shed light on what exactly had happened to Canaan on that fateful night in 1987.

Powers and Abilities[]

Lenore possessed a Banshee Scream that she could use to create concussive blasts, and was able to imbue the town with her energy, allowing her to control virtually anything within the town's perimeter. Despite her thirty years of solitude, she retained a great level of control over her abilities. For example, she was able to manipulate the objects in her environment through sheer force of will, which was demonstrated when she caused all of the doors in her home to slam shut on their own, locking Scott, Malia, and Lydia inside. It should be noted that Lenore also caused the front door and the window glass to become so strong that Scott and Malia could not break through it, despite both possessing significantly powerful superhuman strength.

She is especially proficient in producing vivid visual and auditory hallucinations, possibly as a subset of a Telepathy, which can be a Banshee ability as well. This was demonstrated upon Lydia, Scott McCall and Malia Tate's arrival to Canaan; soon after, Scott and Malia started having vivid and horrific hallucinations; Scott envisioned his mother, Melissa McCall, with a bite taken out of her skull like the other victims of Garrett Douglas in Beacon Hills, while Malia envisioned her adoptive mother Evelyn and younger sister Kylie laying dead on the ground just before an imaginary Theo Raeken appeared and shot her in the stomach. Adding to her unique abilities, Lenore displayed the ability to nullify Scott and Malia's supernatural powers, a gift that has not been seen in any other character on the show, Banshee or otherwise.

Lenore was able to unconsciously create a Phantom of her dead son, Caleb, who had drowned in the mid-late 1980s; Caleb appeared both as a young boy in good health and a drowned boy with blue lips. It should be noted that while Lenore believes that the Ghost Riders brought her son back at the cost of the rest of the townspeople they captured, there is no proof to support that, making it more likely that her power created Caleb without her knowledge, since she seemed to have no idea that she was even a Banshee until Lydia identified her as one.

The apparition of Caleb had a connection to Lenore, allowing her to use her powers to manipulate the aura through him; he also seemed to have some degree of sentience, as he possessed his own memories of his life and could sense what his mother wanted or felt. Lenore was able to project her voice through Caleb's, as there are several moments when Caleb speaks where his voice is undercut with Lenore's voice.
