ā Lorilee and Liam Dunbar in After Images
|
Lorilee Rohr was a minor character who has appeared in the fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of Teen Wolf. She was the younger sister of Brett Talbot, the daughter of unnamed deceased parents, and the ward and Beta of Satomi Ito. She was first mentioned in the series in I.E.D., when Lydia Martin and Malia Tate decrypted the second portion of the Deadpool hit-list, which had Lorilee and Brett on it, among many others.
She soon became a more significant fixture among the McCall Pack's allies after her brother Brett reconciled with former classmate and teammate Liam Dunbar, who had been bitten and turned into a Werewolf by Scott McCall and began helping them with supernatural issues. She ultimately died alongside her brother on the orders of Gerard Argent, who had formed an army of Hunters led by Tamora Monroe and had orchestrated the death of her brother, Brett, as a warning to the McCall Pack about what was to come.
Lorilee was a member of Satomi's Pack and an ally of the McCall Pack.
Early life[]
Little of Lorilee's life prior to her introduction is known, except for the fact that she was a born Werewolf whose parents died in a fire when she was young. Afterward, she and her brother Brett were taken in by Satomi Ito, who raised them as her own and who welcomed them into her pack. ("Dreamcatchers") She attended Devenford Prep after her brother won a lacrosse scholarship there, as he knew she was insecure about not having any friends at their current school and he used his skill to convince the school to take them both as new students. ("After Images")
Throughout Teen Wolf[]
She appeared for the first time in Monstrous, when she was running away from an unknown band of Hunters at Beacon Hills High School along with her older brother Brett. When they were eventually cornered on the lacrosse field, Brett stood in front of Lorilee and told her to close her eyes so she wouldn't see the dozens of Hunters pointing their laser-sighted crossbows at them. However, at the last moment, they were rescued by Kira Yukimura, who led Lorilee, Brett, Satomi, and the remaining members of their pack to Alan Deaton's animal clinic so that the McCall Pack could help them hide from the rapidly increasing number of assassins arriving in Beacon Hills to partake in the Deadpool. That night, Lorilee, along with the rest of Satomi and Scott's packs and the latter's ally, Chris Argent, bunkered down in the Argent Arms International warehouse to wait for the Hunters to show up. When they finally attacked, Lorilee and the other members of Satomi's pack who were unable to fight were hidden in the back rooms while Satomi, Brett, and the McCall Pack fought against them. It was there that Lorilee witnessed Scott McCall briefly transform into a more monstrous form of a Werewolf, which seemed to scare her immensely. Once the Deadpool was shut down by Malia Tate and Stiles Stilinski, the surviving Hunters retreated from Argent Arms, and Lorilee was allowed to return home with her brother and her pack.
In A Credible Threat, Lori showed up at Beacon Hills High School with her older brother Brett Talbot, where she had instructions to patrol under the bleachers and keep an eye out for anyone wearing a pair of size 10 shoes with the Hellhound Jordan Parrish's blood on the soles, as they believed whoever was wearing these shoes was the last Chimera who had been imbued with the spirit of the resurrected Beast of Gevaudan. However, she was unable to find any of the shoes in question in her search, and began taking turns keeping a look out while she watched her brother play the Cyclones on the field.
When she saw Kira's inner Kitsune spirit take control of her and act aggressively toward all of the players on either side of the game, Lori watched in concern as Brett purposely baited her to get her kicked out of the game at Scott's request in hopes of preventing her from harming anyone else. Afterward, Lori, upon hearing Kira muttering under her breath in Japanese, walked up to her and asked her if she was okay in Japanese as well, which only made Kira's Fox spirit more hostile toward her due to her offense at Lori's American accent. This caused Kira, still controlled by her inner Fox, to attack Lori; despite her young age, Lorilee was able to hold her own against the Kitsune, even briefly wolfing-out with her fangs and golden eyes, though she did get a busted lip in the process. She continued fighting with her until Scott arrived and was able to roar her back into control. Afterward, Kira saw Lori's bleeding lip and looked both horrified and guilty about having hurt her. It is unknown what happened to Lori after this, but she presumably fled the high school campus when it became clear that the Beast had arrived and was attacking anyone it came upon.
In Relics, Lori was seen sitting next to Sydney in the stands during a lacrosse match, where she made several comments about the team's poor performance, not knowing that Scott McCall and Liam Dunbar, the team's best players, were purposely trying to protect four members of the team who were marked by the Ghost Riders at the cost of their team's potential win. When Mason Hewitt, who was sitting in front of them, looked distraught by Beacon Hills High School's loss, Lorilee assured him that there was still time for the team to catch up. It is unknown what happened to Lorilee and Sydney after this, but it can be assumed that they fled after the game was canceled due to torrential thunderstorms (which were caused by the arrival of the Ghost Riders). In After Images, Lori, who became worried about her brother Brett Talbot when he didn't return home from helping with Beacon Hills High School's lacrosse practice, went to the school, where she found Brett's lacrosse stick broken in half and covered in his blood. This was presumably around the time that Brett began fighting back against his attackers, new Hunter and BHHS guidance counselor Tamora Monroe and her recently-attained mentor Gerard Argent, as she heard gunshots shortly afterward what would have occurred when he lured them into a trap and was shot at for his trouble. Believing he was in danger, Lori immediately went to the McCall House, where Scott was preparing to leave in the Jeep. After showing him the broken lacrosse stick and explaining her concerns, Scott wondered how she knew for sure it was his blood, leading Lori to remind him that he was her brother and that they shared the same blood. This seemed to convince Scott, who called upon his fellow packmates Malia Tate and Liam Dunbar to assist them in finding Brett. They seemingly found some kind of track that led them into the Beacon Hills Preserve, where Liam noticed an arrow plunged into a nearby tree and correctly deduced that Brett had, in fact, set a trap and was fighting back. Malia was relieved to know that Brett was alive, but Lori reminded them that he was still hurt and that they needed to find a way to let him know that they were there before getting ready to howl. Malia immediately stopped her and pointed out that by doing so, they would be letting who they then believed to be a singular newbie Hunter know they were also there looking for him, but Liam confidently argued that they could take "him," even after Malia warned them that if Brett howled back, they would be leading the Hunter right to his location. Scott, however, was in agreement with Liam and believed that they could find "him" first, since, as three Werewolves and a Werecoyote, they could track sounds faster than any human could, giving them the advantage. When he reiterated that they had done this before and knew what they were doing, Malia brought up the fact that she couldn't catch his scent, leading Lori to realize that he was using the skill Satomi Ito taught them to mask it. Upon finding a footprint in the grass nearby, Liam determined that Brett had headed further into the woods and ran in that direction with Lori following eagerly behind him. Scott and Malia stayed back for a moment to discuss the fact that Brett's trap didn't work, which meant that either the Hunter wasn't as much of an amateur as they were assuming, or they were learning quickly, planting the seeds for their future discovery that Monroe and Gerard were working together. After some time following the tracks, they eventually lost Brett's trail, and Scott wondered if maybe Brett had simply stopped bleeding. Liam suggested that they split up, with him and Lori heading one way and Scott and Malia heading in the other, only for Lori to suggest that perhaps they each go in a different direction. Malia, on the other hand, insisted that they needed to stick together; when Liam argued that they had the advantage at four against one, Malia reminded them that this wouldn't be the case if they split up. Liam, annoyed, pointed out that he had been leading the pack in their absence all summer and that he thought he was capable of making a single decision, Malia, equally frustrated, retorted that if he wanted to "do something stupid and die," he was welcome to try it. Liam continued to argue that it was one amateur Hunter who didn't know what they were doing, only to be distracted by Scott's examination of the area around them. When he realized that the Hunter had been covering their tracks, they all realized that they were dealing with at least two Hunters, possibly more. When Lorilee asked how many Hunters Scott had seen in those woods before, he grimly replied that he had seen a lot before Malia snidely asked them if they still wanted to split up. Liam maintained that they could deal with it as long as they found Brett's trail, Lorilee noted a stacked set of rocks balanced nearby and realized it was a clue from Brett that revealed to her that he was heading into the Underground Tunnels. Down in the tunnels, Lorilee found more of Brett's blood and sniffed at it, grimacing when she realized that he had been poisoned with purple wolfsbane. Scott figured this was why Brett wasn't healing, and when Lori asked what they could do if he only had a few hours left to live, Liam reminded them that they could still howl. Malia maintained that howling was still too much of a risk, but Lori, believing her brother was dying, did not care about the risk, even after Malia pointed out that he was still well enough to be staying on the move. Scott, overwhelmed, insisted that they needed to stop and think for a moment, but Lori pressed on that she needed to let him know that he was here and that she was coming for him. Liam, in agreement with Lori, decided to howl before the others could stop him, though Brett, who was weakened enough that he was hiding in the rafters of one of the tunnels, was unable to howl back due to Monroe and Gerard being so close by. As the four continued to explore the tunnels, Lori anxiously wondered aloud about why Brett didn't howl back; while Liam suggested that maybe he just didn't hear them, Malia pessimistically believed that he may not have been physically able to reply. Scott was suddenly distracted by the sight of a trip-wire up ahead and wasted no time trying to stop Lori from hitting it, but her preoccupation with finding her brother caused her to not be able to react in time. The wire triggered a trap which launched a pipe covered in nails at Scott, embedding itself into his abdomen and causing him to collapse onto the floor. Scott quickly realized that the Hunter knew they were coming, and though Malia instructed him to focus on healing rather than talking, Lori simply apologized before insisting that she couldn't wait around for him and that they had to go. Liam pointed out that they still had the advantage of three to two, not to mention being faster and stronger, but Scott, weak from his impalement, pointed out that their opponents were smarter and that Liam, unlike Scott, had never fought Hunters like this before, as the arrow, trip-wire, and wolfsbane implied that the Hunter was not actually an amateur. Lori insisted that she didn't care who was smarter, faster, or "whatever" else because her brother was going to die, and when Liam argued that the McCall Pack always took the risk when someone innocent-- especially one of their friends-- was in danger, Scott ultimately agreed with them and insisted they go after Brett and leave him behind, though Malia ultimately stayed to take care of him and let Lori and Liam head out alone. They once again lost his trail, leading Liam to ask if Brett left Lori any other clues, but she glumly replied that she didn't see or hear anything that could help them. Liam assured her that they would figure out something and that he would be okay, and when Lori asked how he knew that, Liam replied that Brett was strong to the point that Liam now runs to get out of his way on the lacrosse field after being knocked down by him so many times. At the memory of him playing lacrosse, Lori confessed that Brett learned how to play the sport because of her-- she was insecure about not having friends at their original school, so when Brett heard that Devenford Prep needed lacrosse players, he practiced all summer for try-outs and ultimately won a scholarship. Once he got it, he insisted that if they wanted him, they had to take Lorilee as well, and that was how the two ultimately began attending the private school. When Liam once again assured her that they would find Brett, he was distracted by the scent of something sour and grimaced. Lori remarked that it smelled like something was rotting, and Liam guessed it was probably the poison, which gave Lori the idea to use the scent to track him. Meanwhile, Malia and Scott discussed the trap and how the Hunter could have possibly rigged it without them hearing it, which led to Scott's discovery that the Hunter had actually done it a long time ago, meaning that it was actually a veteran Hunter they were dealing with, one who had spent as much time in the tunnels as they did-- Gerard Argent. They then realized that Gerard had set a trap and that Lori and Liam were about to walk right into it. After an unbearable amount of time, Lori and Liam finally heard a weak heartbeat nearby and followed it straight to Brett, whose skin had become pale and who was bleeding black blood from his nose, mouth, ears, and wounds. Brett was relieved to see them and pointed out that Lori found the rocks, which she confirmed before he called Liam a "dumbass" for risking his safety to find him. Suddenly, an ultrasonic emitter went off, and Liam insisted that Brett and Lorilee run to safety while he held the Hunters off. However, once he found the source of the sound and found no Hunters nearby, he realized that they had walked into yet another trap and ran after them. Lori had just pulled Brett up the ladder and through a manhole when suddenly, a car came out of nowhere and sped toward them, leaving Brett and Lori no time but to clutch each others' hands as they were struck hard by the vehicle. When Liam, in full Werewolf transformation, leaped from inside the tunnel, he found Brett laying dead with a fatally injured Lori holding his hand and weeping over him. She cried that she couldn't take his pain before she ultimately succumbed to her own wounds, likely due to residual wolfsbane poisoning from being in contact with her brother. Liam was so furious at the sight of his two friends laying dead that he roared at the top of his voice, not realizing until it was too late that Gerard and Monroe had gathered dozens of townspeople to witness this display in hopes of scaring them into joining their Hunter cause, which was ultimately successful. In Face-to-Faceless, Lori, along with her brother Brett Talbot, were mentioned in a conversation between Scott McCall and Liam Dunbar when the former was attempting to convince the latter to go to school in spite of Liam's recent exposure as a Werewolf to a significant portion of the Beacon Hills human population. Scott conceded that Liam knew Brett and Lori better than he did before making it clear that Liam needed to at least publicly try to live his life as normal, because if he didn't, the townspeople would ultimately believe the rumors that he was a Werewolf and more friends of his could potentially die. In Pressure Test, Lori and Brett were brought up again by Theo Raeken in a conversation with Liam Dunbar in which Theo pointed out that his "dead friends" were still dead and would continue to remain dead regardless of what Liam did in the fight against Monroe's Army, even after Liam argued that they weren't simply run over by a car, they were murdered. In Werewolves of London, after his best friend Mason Hewitt (along with his friend and packmate Lydia Martin and his allies Melissa McCall and Chris Argent) were shot in an attack caused by Gabe, Liam confronted him in the school locker room. As he assaulted the teenage Hunter, Liam explained that he was having difficulty controlling his anger, and that he couldn't seem to help it when his friends were hurt or killed, referencing Lori and Brett's deaths earlier in the season as motivating factors to their current violent situation. |
Personality[]
Lorilee's appearances on the series have been few and far between, but in the short amount of time she has spent on-screen, she has demonstrated that she is quite brave for her age and cares deeply for her brother Brett, her guardian Satomi, and the other members of her pack. Since the Deadpool, she has apparently learned to fight, and was able to hold her own against the Thunder Kitsune Kira Yukimura during a battle while her Fox spirit had taken control, making her a valuable ally to the McCall Pack as well, whom she seems to like due to their help in saving her pack from the Deadpool assassins.
Physical Appearance[]
Lori was a very petite and young teenage girl with slightly tanned white skin, light blonde hair, and blue eyes. She always wears a black leather choker with an "L" charm around her neck, and is usually seen in casual clothing such as t-shirts, jeans, and hoodies. In her Werewolf form, she has glowing Beta-gold eyes.
Powers and Abilities[]
Lorilee possessed all the standard powers and abilities of a Beta Werewolf, including superhuman physical attributes such as super strength, speed, agility, reflexes, durability, and senses, as well as accelerated healing, the ability to absorb pain from other living beings, and animal instincts. She also possessed the power to shapeshift her features into those of a wolf, including glowing gold eyes, claws, and fangs; though Lorilee has only ever partially shifted, it is likely that she could also develop a ridged brow, mutton chops and pointed ears as well. Additionally, Lorilee possessed the rare ability to inhibit her scent to other supernaturals with heightened senses of smell, just like the others in her pack.
In addition to her supernatural powers, Lorilee had proven herself to be a competent fighter, as she was able to hold her own against Kira, who had been empowered by the unbalanced Kitsune spirit inside her. In addition to her hand-to-hand combat skills, she also seemed to be at least somewhat knowledgeable about fighting with melee weapons, as she used a lacrosse stick as a staff for a short amount of time before it was broken, after which point she used the broken pieces to switch to stick-fighting.
Weaknesses[]
Lorilee had all the typical weaknesses of a Werewolf, including wolfsbane, mistletoe, the modified canine distemper virus, and letharia vulpina, also known as "wolf lichen." She was vulnerable to the effects of full moons, supermoons, as well as intense emotions, all of which can trigger transformations in young and untrained Werewolves. Lunar eclipses suppress her and her fellow Werewolves' powers for the duration, which is anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes. She was also vulnerable to the effects of rowan wood, or its burned form, mountain ash, which can be used to prevent her from entering an area surrounded by an unbroken circle of it, or can be used to trap her inside the circle by a human or Chimera wielding the ash.
Etymology[]
- Lorilee: Lorilee is a variation of the feminine given name Lorelei, which is a Germanic name meaning "luring rock." This is the name of a rock headland on the Rhine River, where legend has it that a maiden named Lorelei lives on the rock and lures fishermen to their death with her song in a manner similar to the mythological siren. The name Lorilee could also be a combination of the names Laura/Laurie and Lee. In this case, Laura is a feminine given name derived from the Late Latin name Laurus, which means "laurel," a name quite favorable in the time period due to the use of laurel leaves to make victors' garlands, which led the name to mean "victor" as well. Meanwhile, Lee is a unisex given name derived from the Old English leah, meaning "clearing," which, combined with Laura, means "laurel clearing."
- Rohr: Rohr is a German and/or Swiss German topographical surname which has given to someone who lived in an area thickly grown with reeds, from the Middle-High German word ror.
Trivia[]
- Lorilee was valued at $250,000 in the Deadpool.
- She has been shown to speak Japanese fluently, likely due to Satomi Ito teaching her how to do so. However, according to Kira Yukimura's inner Kitsune spirit, her accent is far from perfect.
- She wears a black leather choker necklace with a silver "L" charm on it in reference to her first name.
- Interestingly enough, Lorilee's actress, Lily Bleu Andrew, is the daughter of co-Executive Producer and director Tim Andrew, and is the younger sister of Claire BryƩtt Andrew, who plays Sydney. She is one of many family members of cast and crew members in Teen Wolf who have joined the cast for minor parts.
