ā | Lydia: "My grandmother, Lorraine, used to work in San Francisco for IBM. She was there on a weekend, catching up on work. She started hearing this sound, like rain... But, when she looked out the windows, all she saw was blue sky." Scott: "But she kept hearing the rain?" Lydia: "And it just kept getting louder. Rain, and thunder, cracking like gunshots in her head... so loud, she finally just... screamed." Derek: "Like a Banshee." |

Lorraine Martin was a character that was introduced during Season 4 of MTV's Teen Wolf. She was the wife of Maddy, the mother of Mr. Martin, the ex-mother-in-law of Natalie Martin and the grandmother of Lydia Martin.
She was said to have developed her Banshee powers early in adulthood, which she finally realized after inadvertently predicting the death of her wife, Maddy, through her power of Clairaudience. Afterward, she dedicated her life to figuring out how she managed to do it, leading her to become obsessed with the supernatural and occult, doing anything she could in order to learn about and understand how her powers worked. This experimentation led her to find and meet fellow Banshee Meredith Walker, though their time together led to Meredith going into a catatonic state for several months afterward. ("Perishable")
Finally, her son admitted her to Eichen House in the late 2000s, as he did not know the supernatural was real and thought she was struggling with a genuine mental health crisis. ("Time of Death") It was there that she drilled a hole in the side of her own head, presumably to enhance her Banshee powers. ("Required Reading") Though she was unable to predict any other deaths during her experimentation prior to being admitted to Eichen, she ultimately was able to make two mass predictions once inside--one of a list of patients who had been killed by the Eichen House orderly Brunski, which included herself, and a list of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills would eventually be put on a hit-list known as the Deadpool years later that included her granddaughter, Lydia Martin. ("Status Asthmaticus")
Though she was able to escape Eichen House to flee to her lake house and put in the computer code she had divined using automatic writing to her old fashioned computer system, she was still found and caught by Brunski, who killed her as he killed the others and covered it up as a suicide. Her computer code would then be stolen by Brunski and Meredith and used for the basis of the Deadpool in Season 4. ("Perishable")
Throughout Teen Wolf[]
Season 4[]
She was first mentioned in The Benefactor, when Kira Yukimura remarked that Lorraine had died and left her lake house to her friend Lydia Martin's parents, where they ended up having a party.
She was then mentioned again in Time of Death, in conversation between Lydia and her mother Natalie, it was revealed that Lorraine was a patient at Eichen House when she died, and that she knew Meredith Walker, a banshee and occasional ally of Lydia and McCall Pack. When Lydia found a letter with a computer code written on it by Lorraine, she realized that it was her grandmother's program that was being used to encrypt the Dead Pool hit-list of supernatural creatures.
In Perishable, more of Lorraine's story was revealed in flashbacks. Lydia explained what she had learned from her mother the previous evening, including the fact that her grandmother was a Banshee who first realized her powers after she predicted the death of her lover, Maddy, before it happened. Lorraine then apparently spent the rest of her life trying to figure out how her powers worked, and even created a soundproof study in her lake house where she would go to uncover information about future deaths by listening to the vibrations of a blank record on the record player.
With Lorraine's increasing obsession with the supernatural and the occult as well as the constant noise of fellow Banshees and surrounding deaths, her son admitted her to Eichen House, believing she was mentally ill. It was there that Lorraine's computer code somehow fell into the hands of Meredith and an orderly, Brunski, who used it to create a hit-list of supernatural creatures that became known as the Deadpool.
Sometime in the early 2000s, Lorraine was killed in the first iteration of the Deadpool by Brunski, an "Angel of Death" orderly who believed he was easing the suffering of his patients by killing them using an overdose of drugs that preventing them from being able to breathe. Receiving a premonition of her own death just before its occurrence, Lorraine left clues for her granddaughter Lydia on how to protect herself and stop the Deadpool of supernatural creatures that would ultimately occur in early 2012.

Powers and Abilities[]
Lorraine has all the typical powers of a Banshee. She notably seemed to have a more enhanced sense of hearing than normal Banshees, as she was able to hear the record player in Brunski's pocket before he killed her. Lorraine also experienced many death premonitions, including one of her wife Maddy, and even one of her own.
In an unusual turn of events, she also predicted that her granddaughter Lydia would potentially be killed in the Deadpool five years in the future, and left clues for her before she died to give Lydia the best chance at survival that she could; fortunately, Lydia's powers were triggered much earlier in her life than Lorraine's powers had been activated, giving her a better understanding of how her powers worked by the time the Deadpool came to pass.

- ā 1.0 1.1 The printout of her "suicide" that Jordan Parrish looks at in Perishable lists of date of birth as 24th April and says that she died in March at age 62. She had to have died after 12th December 2004 (the date Meredith Walker was hospitalized) and before the start of season 1 (January 2011), so she must have died in between 2005 and 2010 in March. As she was born in April, she was turning 63 at the time, so she must have been born between 1942 and 1947.
